Daughtry – “Leave This Town”

Chris Daughtry

Christopher Adam Daughtry’s lucky number must be “four”. You see he was the fourth place finalist during season five of American Idol and to date he is the fourth most successful American Idol contestant, behind Carrie Underwood, Clay Aiken and Kelly Clarkson (not necessarily in that order). He is another fortunate soul whose musical career was catapulted by the hit music reality show.

After leaving Idol, Chris formed the rock band Daughtry and was sign to a record deal by RCA. The groups first album “Daughtry” sold over four (there’s that number again) million copies. One million of those were sold during the first five weeks of release. This album gave us great hits like “What About Now”, “Home”, “It’s Not Over”, and “What I Want”.

Their sophomore album “Leave this Town” which was released earlier this month promises the same quality music as the debut album. There are a lot of nice rock tunes but the album also has some great ballads including the song “September”. Another great song on this album is “No Surprise” which Chris wrote with the help of Nickelback great, Chad Kroeger. But one of the highlights of the album is the song “Tennessee Line” in which the band performs with legendary country singer, Vince Gill.

As a group, Daughtry has really made a name for itself and rightly so. This quintet is ultra talented and very creative. If you haven’t picked up their latest album I strongly suggest you do. You will not be disappointed. “Leave This Town” is available in stores and on iTunes now. Get your copy and remember to let the music play.
